Also in December I did a little bit of shopping, and these are my December Favourites.
1. Collection Work The Colour Nail Polish in Titanium Grey
I absolutely love this colour, it's absolutely gorgeous. It's quite a dark colour which I like, but it has silver running through it so that lifts and brightens the colour. I like that the silver doesn't over power the beautiful dark grey, but instead stops the grey from looking dull and boring. The shape of the bottle makes it easy to hold, the polish does need two coats I have found to really get good coverage on the nail, not because it is a thin mixture but because it starts to dry quite quickly and doesn't quite make it to the end if the nail. I have found it can chip, but they aren't massive chips and are really only noticeable to me, and they don't chip any further which is great.
Overall, the colour is beautiful and it's a great polish. I am definitely going to look at buying more from Collection Work the Colour nail polishes.
It retails for $6.99 NZD
2. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory
So, I purchased this concealer after seeing YouTuber Zoella using it in a few of her videos. I was thourougly impressed by the coverage it gave and as I had run out of concealer for a long time but had no idea what concealer to get, I was keen to try this one. I do have insanely dark undereye circles from issues with sleep as well as very translucent skin under my eyes and this concealer vastly improves this. Using only a few dots of concealer, the skin under my eyes no longer looks translucent and the dark undereye circles are mostly concealed. It also covers any redness or spots I have to the point where I don't really need to put any foundation or BB Cream over it.
The formula is light and matches my skin tone really well and I really like that I don't need a lot of it to cover any redness or spots, I do have to use a fair bit under my eyes but my undereye circles are very dark, but in saying that, it doesn't take much to cover them up using this concealer.
I would highly recommend this concealer, it is easy to apply and gives amazing coverage.
It retails for $16.99 NZD
3. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
Anyways, I have never been a huge fan of powder as I have always been terrified of looking cake faced, and or orange and I hate the feeling of powder on my skin, but with this powder, I feel none of those fears. I have a fairly oily t-zone and no matter what I do to try and prevent my skin from looking shiny, it always ends up shiny within a couple of hours.
Wearing this foundation, my skin did not look shiny or oily at all. Not only did it hide my oily t-zone, the powder itself is light and it doesn't feel heavy on my skin, in fact, it doesn't even feel as if it is there at all, which makes me feel more confident to wear it as I don't feel cake faced or orange. It also matches my skin tone really well and definitely keeps my skin from looking shiny.
Overall, I love this powder and even if you don't have oily skin, I would recommend it because it isn't a heavy powder which means that it is more wearable for during the day and also because it doesn't feel as if it's clogging up your pores because it's so light. I think it's got pretty good coverage as well and definitely keeps your skin looking matte throughout the day.
It retails for $15.50 NZD
4. Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast lip balm
I tend to have quite dry lips, and when I'm nervous (which is fairly often) I will bite my lip and tear off any dry skin, so it's quite important for me to have smooth lips all the time. Also for the fact that applying lipstick to dry, chapped lips is not easy and doesn't look particularly nice.
First of all, this lip balm smells amazing, it actually smells like raspberry lemonade and I could stand there smelling it all day. Second, it does keep my lips smooth, but only if I apply it regularly which is a downer as I am often busy doing other things and forget... The fact that it makes my lips get chapped if I don't apply it for a whole day is an issue for me, but if I do remember to apply it often, it does make my lips smooth and it does work fast at smoothing the skin out which is good.
Overall, I like this lip balm because it smells nice and is quick and easy to apply, and I would recommend it to someone purely because of how it smells, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have really dry lips, I think that there are better lip balms for that.
It retails for $4.39 NZD
5. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Thick and Thin waterproof eyeliner in black
My experience so far with it is that it is fairly easy to apply, the tip is more like a felt tip rather than a brush which I find is easy to control and it is easy to get a thick line and a thin line. I find that the colour isn't particularly strong which I have found with felt tip liners before, but it was easy to rectify that issue by lightly dabbing the tip on to the line. I think that with more practice, I will be able to really use the liner to it's full potential and really get a good black line.
Overall, I think it's a pretty good liquid eyeliner for a beginner, more experienced people may find it isn't so good, but for a beginner like me it does the job and lets me practice which is exactly why I bought it.
It retails for $14.99 NZD
